Wayne’s World
Wayne’s World is a 1992 comedy that stars Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey and is directed by Penelope Spheeris. The film is based on their characters Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar from a popular SNL skit. The two host a cable access television show called Wayne’s World.
The two metal heads get their big break when a local station want to hire them.
Trouble follows then when Wayne falls for the lead singer of a rock band. Cassandra, played by Tia Carrere becomes a rift between the two buddies. Wayne soon breaks up with her and walks out on Garth during a live show. Garth panics and has stage freight for the remainder of their show.
Wayne and Garth discover that TV exec, Ben Oliver has a hidden agenda and wants to ruin their show and steal Cassandra away from them. The two must work together to save their show and help Cassandra be a successful musician.
This film was Mike Meyers feature film debut and was commercially successful. It cost $20 million to make and grossed over $183 million worldwide.
